Sweet Mother Of Jesus - Detroit Is Over .500

Submitted by Matthew Gagnon on Sunday, 29 June 2008No Comment

Well it took them long enough. I have to tell you, when American League teams see interleague play come up on their schedule, they must seriously get insta-wood. Good lord, its a bloodbath - watching interleague play is like watching a major league club face off with one of their single A affiliates. If it weren’t for these also rans playing the Tigers in the last couple months, they’d likely still be 10 games under .500.

But, Detroit has gone 13-5 against the National League, and crawled right back into relevance. They now stand at 41-40 and are only 5 games out of first place in the AL Central. Heading into the all star break, that’s not too bad, and I’m sure the Tigers feel like they have a little momentum. Perhaps we may begin to see that vaunted offense that was supposedly going to score 1000 runs this year, and some signs of life from their bullpen.

Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure - the reports of the Tiger’s death has been greatly exaggerated.
