Yes Virginia, there is a NL West Division

Quick, name the one division in baseball where you can be two games under .500 and be in first place at the same time.

Time’s up. If you guessed the National League West, then please step forward for a free gift.

It’s sad when you think about it that you have the American League where the Rays, Red Sox and Yankees are battling it out for first, and the White Sox and Twins going to toe-to-toe. Not to mention the other big races in the NL’s other divisions. But it seems that in the NL West teams do not want anything to do with great baseball, hell they want nothing to do with good baseball. Unfortunately, one team from the West will get the priviledge to play in the post season. Most likely the Dodgers or Diamondbacks, who, by the way, played a barn-burner last night where the D’Backs gave up 5 runs in the 9th.

Again it’s unfortunate that some of the NL teams who are a good amount of games over .500 will have no shot at the playoffs, but either the Dodgers or Diamondbacks will win enough just to scrape buy, only to depart with an early exit in the first round.
